Safehaven Marine have launched ‘Miami’, an Interceptor 48 pilot for the Biscayne Bay Pilots for their pilotage operations at the busy Port of Miami in Florida, USA.

Miami is powered by Scania  DI 13 500hp engines providing her with an economical operational speed of 25kts. Capable of transporting 7 pilots and crew on Grammer shock mitigation seats, in her comfortable air-conditioned cabin, featuring a special arrangement with the 30,000btu air handlers mounted high up in a new roof moulding, allowing the most efficient cooling for Florida’s hot climate. Fitted with Ocean 3’s proven fendering system that incorporates a larger fender at the shoulder impact area, and a cut away recces at the pilot boarding area that prevents the ships pilot ladder from becoming trapped. Her central helm position offers panoramic vision all round and above, and offers one of the best helming positions, totally focused on providing the operator with the maximum comfort and control of the vessel, especially during the often challenging conditions a pilot vessel operates in.

Another special feature incorporated at the pilots request is a forward watertight door on the port side adjacent the helm, facilitating quick access from the cabin to the boarding point. Miami also incorporates Safehaven’s proven transom mounted MOB  recovery platform for safety.

‘Miami’ certainly looks great in her striking colour scheme, representing Safehaven Marine’s 65th pilot boat delivered globally.
