Safehaven Marine have supplied our 12m Barracuda pilot boat to the Port of Poole Harbour commissioners. She will operate as the ports new pilot boat. Powered by a pair of Caterpillar C9 510hp engines governed back to only 350hp, she still has an operational speed of 27kts with outstanding fuel economy of 65L/hr per engine, at a lightship displacement of 11,000kg. Fitted with a 4kw AC generator she has full air conditioning and seats a crew of 5 all on high tech shock mitigation seating in an extremely comfortable environment. She is an 'all weather capable' pilot boat being fully self-righting an able to recover after capsize by a large breaking sea. Heavily fendered she incorporates our sacrificial shoulder fender for soft impact's when boarding and is fitted with our transom man over board recovery system.
