Safehaven Marine have just launched 'Calaneras'. She is an Interceptor 38 'All weather' pilot boat for the Port of Algeciras in Spain, and is the second pilot boat we have supplied to the port following 'Getares', an Interceptor 48 we built in 2012. Its a fine endorsement for Safehaven to have a repeat order as it demonstrates how pleased the Port have been with their first vessel. 'Caleneras' is powered by a pair of Volvo D9 425hp engines and has an operational speed of 25kts with a 300nm+ range. She has a capacity for 1-2 crew and 3-4 pilots in her very comfortable main cabin with additional seating in her f/wd cabin. She is heavily fendered and fitted with our proven 'Sacrificial' boarding fender system and also features a 'pusher bow' allowing her to assist smaller ships in close quarter manoeuvring in harbour.
Here is a nice video of her on sea trials.

The new pilot boat project in Algeciras is a great example of how specialized design meets practical needs. The Interceptor 38 combines speed, stability, and safety features that are essential for guiding large vessels in busy ports. From my perspective, what stands out is the balance between performance and durability—this isn’t just about power, but about reliability in challenging conditions.
It’s similar to Slope Game, where maintaining control and focus is critical—one misstep can change everything. In short, the vessel reflects how engineering precision supports both efficiency and security in maritime operations.
The write‑up feels more like a marketing pitch than an informative piece. It doesn’t really survival race explain what sets this vessel apart or why the design matters, so instead of offering meaningful insight, it just comes across as promotional fluff with little substance.
