Unyielding Performance in Any Weather: The T-2000 ‘VOYAGER
When embarking on blue water cruising, encountering bad weather is often an unavoidable aspect of the journey due to the great distances involved. A true blue water yacht must be equipped to face such challenges head-on, and the T-2000 ‘VOYAGER’ is precisely designed for this purpose.
Voyager’s unique combination of high cruising speed and an impressive range of 1,000 nautical miles at 30 knots enables her to take full advantage of ‘weather windows,’ allowing for longer voyages to be undertaken at a high cruising speed before the weather closes in. However, should bad weather arise, Voyager is built to safely handle the conditions and protect both herself and her crew, ensuring peace of mind during even the most challenging passages.
Inheriting a Legacy of strength and Seakeeping’
Drawing on Safehaven Marine’s over 25 years of experience in constructing all-weather commercial pilot, search & rescue (S.A.R.), and patrol craft, ‘VOYAGER’ is engineered for true ‘all weather’ operation. This vessel benefits from the same robust design, engineering principles and advanced technology that have made Safehaven Marine a leader in their field. Notably, in 2021, Safehaven’s XSV20 demonstrator, Thunder Child II, set a UIM World record by crossing the inhospitable North Atlantic from Ireland to Iceland—an 862 nautical mile voyage—at an average speed of 30 knots. Being just one of many speed and endurance records set by the companies craft these achievements are a testament to the resilience and capability of Safehaven designs in the harshest conditions.
The T-2000 ‘VOYAGER’ inherits this legacy of toughness, having proven during sea trials that it can safely handle Storm Force 10 conditions and big breaking seas. Whether you’re caught in a storm or navigating rough waters, ‘VOYAGER’ is built to safely weather a storm at sea, ensuring that you and your crew remain secure and at ease.
Yet, despite its rugged capabilities, ‘VOYAGER’ does not compromise on luxury. The interior is meticulously designed to offer the highest degree of comfort, making it as suitable for entertaining guests in the serene waters of the Mediterranean or Caribbean as it is for braving the open ocean. With ‘VOYAGER’, you can explore the world’s most remote and challenging destinations without sacrificing the comforts of home.
Unmatched Efficiency, Range, and Performance- Flying with her hydrofoil
Voyager’s design is at the forefront of maritime innovation, featuring an integrated hydrofoil that significantly enhances efficiency and reduces fuel consumption. At higher cruising speeds between 30-40 knots, the hydrofoil lifts the hull out of the water at speeds above 20 knots, reducing drag and resistance. This advanced technology not only increases Voyager’s maximum speed but also reduces fuel consumption by an impressive 25%.
Voyager stands out in the luxury yacht market by offering a unique combination of 'Trawler-style yacht' range and ocean-crossing capabilities with high performance, making her an exceptional choice for fast long-distance voyages taking advantage of weather windows. Despite her performance credentials, Voyager achieves remarkable fuel economy for a motor yacht of her size, with each engine consuming just 115 liters per hour at 35 knots. Truly class leading economy.
Below, Voyager almost flying above the water, her hydrofoil and the cool view of it in operation through the glass floor behind the helm in her main cabin.
'Voyager’s performance is nothing short of extraordinary. She boasts a maximum speed of over 50 knots, making her one of the fastest yachts in her size class. Voyager not only meets the demands of a high-performance brief but exceeds them, delivering an exhilarating experience on the water.
The T-2000 Voyager is engineered with symmetrical semi-wave piercing hulls, expertly combining an inverted bow with traditional topside flare. This innovative design allows for a very fine waterline entry, enabling the vessel to cut through waves efficiently while maximizing waterline length. The topside flare plays a crucial role in keeping the boat dry, effectively throwing spray clear and preventing excessive bow immersion in following seas.
Optimized Beam for Stability and Comfort
With a Length Overall (L.O.A.) of 21.4 meters (70 feet) and a beam of 6.2 meters, the T-2000 strikes the perfect balance between static stability and dynamic behavior in waves. This beam width, considered moderate for its length, ensures the best compromise between wake interaction and overall performance. Unlike wider beam catamarans, which can exhibit uncomfortable motions in certain sea conditions, whereas the T-2000 offers a smoother ride, very much like a monohull, but without their typical roll or yaw in beam and following seas or slamming in head seas. Its moderate beam also makes Voyager marina-friendly, facilitating easier docking and maneuverability.
Bridge Deck Design for Enhanced Seaworthiness
The bridge deck of the T-2000 is strategically terminated 2.0 meters from the bows to eliminate the risk of wave slamming on the deck in steep head seas, a common challenge in catamaran designs. This thoughtful design ensures that when the vessel is forced to slow down in adverse conditions, it maintains its comfort. Additionally, the substantial bridge deck-to-waterline clearance further prevents wave impact, enhancing the overall seaworthiness of Voyager.
Precision and Power:
The T-2000 ‘VOYAGER’s Advanced Propulsion Systems
At the heart of the T-2000 ‘VOYAGER’ lies a powerful and sophisticated propulsion system that combines cutting-edge technology with unmatched performance. Powered by a pair of 24 litre MAN V12 engines, ranging from 1,550hp to 2,000hp, and equipped with Twin Disc ‘Quick shift’ gearboxes, the ‘VOYAGER’ is designed for those who demand the highest standards of efficiency and speed.
The propulsion system utilizes surface drive technology, with options including France Helices SD5 drives or Arneson ASD14 surface drives. These surface drives were carefully chosen for their superior efficiency at higher cruising speeds, particularly around 35-40 knots, with a spectacular 'roster tail' being an added bonus. The propellers are vented, ensuring smooth and responsive operation even at low speeds, making the ‘VOYAGER’ equally adept at slow maneuvers and high-speed runs.
For close-quarters maneuvering, ‘VOYAGER’ is equipped with large, powerful twin bow thrusters and twin stern thrusters, all featuring ‘variable speed’ capability. This advanced system allows the vessel to be held securely against the quay or marina while being tied up or cast off—a significant advantage when operating short-handed or in challenging mooring conditions. Combined with the gearboxes' ‘Quick shift’ low-speed function, these thrusters make berthing the T-2000 ‘VOYAGER’ a straightforward and stress-free experience, with the high quality of engineering throughout being to the same high standards as Safehaven’s all weather S.A.R. craft and patrol boats.
‘VOYAGER’ is also fully customizable, allowing owners to select from a range of engine and propulsion systems to suit their specific needs. For those who find speeds of around 40 knots sufficient, alternative propulsion options such as Volvo IPS, Waterjets, and conventional shaft drives are available, providing flexibility without compromising on performance.
With the T-2000 you have the power to choose the propulsion system that best matches your cruising style, ensuring that every journey is as smooth and efficient as it is thrilling. Whether you opt for the high-speed surface drives or a more traditional setup, the ‘VOYAGER’ delivers an unparalleled blend of performance, manoeuvrability, and ease of operation.
