Interceptor 38 Pilot

Multi- purpose pilot boat, economical, price competitive, capable of Pilotage, tug & pushing duties, rope handling and light cargo transfer. Most suitable for smaller Ports where a true multi-role vessel is preferable.

Powered by twin Volvo D8 425 hp engines on ZF 'V' Drive gearboxes, the design features a central cabin position allowing an aft cockpit area which can be fitted with a Mampray quick release towing slip hook. the design also incorporates a 'pusher' bow that allows the vessel to be used for occasional 'tug duties' assisting pilots in maneuvering ships. The design features four pilot seats, and a central helm position. Other features include 1500 litres GRP fuel tanks situated in a midships tank compartment, a forward cabin with a separate heads compartment and occasional sleeping berths as well as providing storage. The vessel is engineered for hot climate operation with twin 3000m3hr engine room fans.  Stainless steel lifting points can optionally be built in at the bow and transom allowing the vessel to be easily lifted from the water. Engine room access is via a deck hatch in the cabin sole for daily inspections and  two large bolted soft patches on the aft cockpit facilitating engine removal and service. Special consideration has been made for pilots with the incorporation of a wide side deck, spacious bow and new design upper grab rails to assist landing on the pilot boat in rough conditions. Her aft working deck area is protected with railings, enclosing the tow / working area.

The design features accommodation for 5 crew / pilots on CAB 500 suspension seats with harnesses and up to 4 survivors in her spacious f/wd cabin. A very comprehensive navigation package is fitted with the helmsman being provided with a highly developed helm position, with car standard ergonomics to provide the utmost control of the vessel in rough conditions. The navigator is provided with his own dedicated position with repeat navigation / radio equipment.

The vessels is Powered by twin 420hp  engines on ZF 'V' Drive gearboxes, these provide a a maximum speed of 24kts and operational speeds over 20kts. Engine room access is via a deck hatch in the cabin sole for daily inspections and two large bolted deck hatches in the aft cockpit, facilitating engine removal and service. The engine room is surprisingly spacious and allows easy access to all service components and is filly insulated for noise, allowing low noise levels of 78db in the main accommodation at operational speeds over 20kts. Other features include 1500 litres GRP fuel tanks situated in a midships tank compartment, it is positioned very low in the hull lowering the CG and maximising stability. The vessel is engineered for hot climate operation with twin 300mm axial engine room fans drawing air through large, mist eliminator type ventilation ducts. Stainless steel lifting points built are integrated into the structure at the bow and transom, allowing the vessel to be easily lifted from the water.
