Barracuda SV11 / 13 -  11m & 13m Pilot vessels

Higher speed economical running pilot vessels with all weather capabilities

Design
Design

Both SV11 & 13 are powered by a pair of Caterpillar C7.1 engines and ZF 325IV gearboxes, the engines rated at 400hp,  providing a 28kts max speed and a 25kts operational operational speed combined with very economical running, the engines using just 65L p/hr from each engine at 25kts.

SV11 can be specified with Self-Righting allowing the pilot boat to recover if capsized by a large breaking wave

SV11 is 12m L.O.A. and SV13 is 14m overall, both with a 4.2m beam and 11,000kg / 12,000kg lightship Displacements. SV13 features a large aft deck area. Both have a seating capacity for 3 pilots and 2 crew on  shock mitigation suspension seats fitted in the main cabin, with further seating for up to 6 passengers in the forward cabin which incorporates a separate heads compartment and plenty of storage space. The pilots are well catered for with the vessel optionally featuring a 16,000btu Dometic high capacity air conditioning unit providing a comfortable environment, where pilots enjoy very low noise levels of just 75db. The pilot vessel is very heavily fendered with 150x150mm main gunwale fendering augmented with Safehaven's unique sacrificial shoulder fender system, ensuring pilot boarding's in rough conditions are soft, with impacts well cushioned and the main fender and hull structure fully protected. Multiple diagonals further protect the vessel. A full electronic package supplied by Garmin based around the 8000 series touch screen displays are positioned flush in a GRP ‘highly focused’ helm console giving the helmsman excellent command of the vessel, with all displays clearly visible, Furthermore optionally fitted with a CCTV 4 camera system providing views displayed at the helm all around the vessel, a very important safety feature which in combination with Safehaven's tried and tested transom operated MOB recovery platform, allows an injured pilot to be quickly safely recovered from the sea unconscious.

The vessels is Powered by twin Volvo D9 425 hp engines on ZF 'V' Drive gearboxes, these provide a a maximum speed of 28kts and operational speeds over 25kts. Engine room access is via a deck hatch in the aft deck for daily inspections and a large bolted deck hatches in the aft cockpit, facilitating engine removal and service. The engine room is surprisingly spacious and allows easy access to all service components and is filly insulated for noise, allowing low noise levels of 78db in the main accommodation at operational speeds over 25kts.Other features include 1500 litres GRP fuel tanks situated in a midships tank compartment, it is positioned very low in the hull lowering the CG and maximising stability. The vessel is engineered for hot climate operation with twin 300mm axial engine room fans drawing air through large, mist eliminator type ventilation ducts. Stainless steel lifting points built are integrated into the structure at the bow and transom, allowing the vessel to be easily lifted from the water.
